Anne Hathaway Dropped Updates On ‘Princess Diaries 3’

We need more drama!

Anne Hathaway recently provided some updates on the highly anticipated movie ‘Princess Diaries 3’. Meg Cabot’s novel of the same name inspired the movie franchise.

Mia Thermopolis Hathaway, a shy American teenager, discovers she is heir to the throne of a European kingdom. Mia must make a decision whether to claim the throne she has inherited or renounce her title forever under the tutelage of her estranged grandmother Andrews, the kingdom’s reigning queen.

All of the books have unique elements that make them more engaging for spectators to watch. Despite receiving mixed reviews for its plot and themes, critics applauded Hathaway’s performance in the movie as Mia. Two movies have already been released, and viewers are now wondering about a third. Let’s get into the details.

‘Princess Diaries 3’ Is A Process That Requires Patience 

There is no word on whether Anne will return for a third movie. However, the actress has been quite supportive of a third film. She mentioned that it could be frustrating and that it is a process that requires patience.

Anne Hathaway said, “We feel the exact same, and I know it’s probably very frustrating. It’s a process that requires patience, and so everybody should consider themselves a part of the movie business now because this is how long it actually takes to make things.”

In October 2022, Hathaway also said, “If there’s any way to get Julie Andrews involved, I think we would make it work. We would go to where she was and put a green screen behind her and just make it happen.”

Julie Andrews Might Not Make Her Appearance In ‘Princess Diaries 3’

On November 15, 2022, it was revealed that Aadrita Mukerji was working on a screenplay for a third Princess Diaries movie, which would be a sequel to the previous two.

But on the other hand, Julie Andrews might not reprise her role in the third movie. 

Andrew said, “It would be too late to do it now. There was talk of a sequel many, many years ago. But I don’t think it ever came to pass. Especially [for] me, it’s too far down the line now to go back to it. It’s a lovely thought, but I don’t think it would probably be possible.”

She revealed to another outlet, “I think we know that it’s probably not going to be possible. It was talked about very shortly after [the second sequel] came out, but it’s now how many years since then? And I am that much older and Annie the princess, or queen, is so much older. And I am not sure where it would float or run.”

There’s Already A Script For ‘Princess Diaries 3’

Anne Hathaway revealed long back that there are already ideas and a script ready for another movie. And that everyone wants it to happen.

She said, “There is a script for the third movie. There is a script. I want to do it, Julie [Andrews] wants to do it, Debra Martin Chase our producer wants to do it. We all really want it to happen.”

She also hinted, “It’s just, we don’t want to do it unless it’s perfect, because we love it just as much as you guys love it. It’s as important to us as it is to you and we don’t want to deliver anything until it’s ready. But we’re working on it.”

The plot of the third book reads, “ In this volume, Mia struggles to decide how to break up with her boyfriend Kenny.” But we will probably see more drama and new things.
