According to Deadline, streaming platform Tubi is developing a sequel to the comedy “Animal,” with Rob Schneider back in the lead role.

For those who don’t remember, the original film was directed by Luke Greenfield in 2001 and follows Marvin Mange, a police evidence officer who has an accident and is subjected to an experiment in which his body is fused with parts of animals, giving him special abilities.

In addition to starring in the sequel, Schneider will write, direct and executive produce.

His wife Patricia Schneider also wrote the screenplay, along with Jamie Lissow (“Real Rob”).

For now, the project is on hold due to negotiations with Revolution Studios, the production company behind the first film.

If all deals are completed, production could begin in early 2023, with an initial forecast for the end of the same year.
