Robert KingOne of today’s biggest movie stars, Angelina Jolie is currently starring in theaters with Marvel’s blockbuster Eternos, where her first superheroine lives.
Besides being one of the highest paid stars today (and for that you have to be profitable too) and partnering with the equally powerful Marvel, Jolie has two Oscar statuettes decorating her home – one as a supporting actress in Garota, Interrupted (2000) and a humanitarian award (in addition to the nomination as a lead actress for A Troca, 2009).
With this in mind, and in order to honor this great actress, director, producer and humanitarian, CinePOP has decided to create a new list with the best films of Angelina Jolie. However, this will not be just any list, but a list of the actress’ favorite movies in the opinion of moviegoers. Without further ado, come see.
Criticism | Maleficent: Mistress of Evil – Powerful Angelina Jolie in a fantastic fantasy
10 | Fire test (1997)
We started with a 3 hour TV production. At that time, Angelina Jolie was not a well-known actress. Based on a book, True Women, in the original title, chronicles an almost 50-year journey through the emancipation of strong, empowered women – from the revolutions in the Old West to the early days of the suffrage movement.
09 | The Good Shepherd (2006)
Here, Jolie was already a big name in the industry, although her presence in this production – equally extensive in duration with almost 3 hours of showing – could only be considered a cameo appearance. Who wins the limelight as the protagonist is Matt Damon, as one of the founders of the CIA, the central intelligence agency of the United States. The film marks the second effort by the direction of actor Robert De Niro, who also stars in the cast. Jolie plays the protagonist’s wife.
08 | The Bone Collector (1999)
The same year she delivered her Oscar-winning performance, Jolie became a star and starred in this top-notch thriller. According to the detective book by Jeffrey Deaver, an expert in investigative thrillers, Jolie joins Denzel Washington as cops hunting down a serial killer. Despite the poor results, the work has a good pace, good performance and an icy atmosphere.
07 | The Wanted (2008)
Prior to starring in Os Eternos, which hits Marvel next year, Angelina Jolie had previously starred in a comic book adaptation on the big screen – and even showed her back in the job. Less well-known to the general public, Wanted is an adult graphic novel about an ordinary guy discovering himself the heir to a clan of secret assassins. The protagonist is played by James McAvoy and Jolie plays her superb tutor on the spot. Morgan Freeman rounds out the main trio of Beasts.
06 | Love Hearts (1998)
Returning to a time when Jolie wasn’t exactly a recognizable face, she’s part of the big cast who shares little stories about relationships and love in this touching drama. In the actress’ subplot, she is paired with Ryan Phillippe, as young people meet and start an intense relationship. The film also features one of the last depictions of the holy monster Sean Connery before his retirement, as a couple with Ellen Burstyn.
05 | Maleficent: Mistress of Evil (2019)
The latest film the star released is hitting theaters around the world, raising tons of money. The feature film is on track to surpass the US $ 100 million mark in the United States and has already grossed more than US $ 430 million worldwide, with less than a month in theaters. While this has divided the opinion of critics, it’s safe to say that Jolie’s second round as the Evil Witch was a hit with fans.

04 | Gia: Fame and Destruction (1998)
This production for HBO TV can be considered as the film that first showed Angelina Jolie’s full performance potential. A biographical drama that required the star’s acting talent, the work tells the story of the success and failure of Italian-American model Gia Carangi (Jolie), who, addicted to drugs, died of AIDS at the age of 26. Although she looks nothing like the real Gia, Jolie does a great job here.
03 | Maleficent (2014)
Whether you liked the end result of this movie or not, the indisputable fact is Angelina Jolie’s performance in the title role. When the first photos of the star as the witch came out, we knew this look would be nothing short of perfection. And the actress keeps her promises. One of the highlights of this live-action fairy tale is the characterization of the main character.
02 | Girl Interrupted (1999)
The finalist for Angelina Jolie’s fan-favorite movies takes on the job that earned her her only acting Oscar – which the star must hugely appreciate. In a supporting role in Winona Ryder, Jolie shines and steals many scenes, playing the sassy Lisa, one of the young women confined to a women’s mental hospital in the feature film based on a book by Susanna Kaysen (about her experiences real life).
01 | The Exchange (2008)
It’s so good when general opinion matches ours. Being in tune with general thinking shows the true quality of a powerful work, or performance. In the case of Angelina Jolie, the Greeks and the Trojans attest The Exchange, by veteran Clint Eastwood, as her best film. A powerful work, based on a true story, the film brings Jolie into both her moment of greatest weakness and strength on screen. In the film, she plays Christine Collins, a desperate mother in search of her lost grandson, on a traumatic journey that has yet to collide with corrupt Los Angeles police in the 1920s. Breathtaking!

Kung Fu Panda Trilogy (2008, 2011 and 2016)
Dreamworks animations are very popular with fans of the genre. And one of the franchises at the top of the favorites list is Kung Fu Panda. The story of the chubby, lazy panda bear Po (who voices Jack Black in the original) mixes up two elements the viewer loves: martial combat (and Asian culture) and the hero’s journey (the guy ordinary who discovers himself the chosen one). In all three films, Angelina Jolie makes her contribution by lending her voice to the character Tigress, one of the teachers who form the main character.
