Jennifer Lopez is planning another wedding, but on set this time. The actress, after marrying Ben Affleck and hosting two ceremonies with an envious guest list, is ready to present her latest film. An Explosive Wedding is the result of a long slog that saw the lead actress change up to 28 wedding dresses on set. Titled Shotgun Wedding in the original language, the film is distributed by Prime Video and tells how an absolutely perfect day can turn into a crazy adventure.
The protagonists Darcy and Tom have chosen to marry on a beautiful island, and for the ceremony they have invited all their relatives (and not). The bride even involved her ex, played by Lenny Kravitz. Shortly before arriving at the altar, Darcy begins to have second thoughts about the wedding, but she has no time to think carefully that a gang of pirates breaks into the wedding and sows panic. An Explosive Marriage: Plot, When and Where
Apparently Jennifer Lopez still can’t get enough of weddings. After Marry Me – Marry Me and her real (double) marriage to Ben Affleck in reality, the actress is ready for a new adventure in a white dress. And when we say adventure, we really mean it, with sharp knives and guns. In An Explosive Wedding, JLo’s character must rely on her survival instincts, at the cost of ruining her precious wedding dress which changes shape as the story progresses. Josh Duhamel, who plays Tom, joins her in this new cinematic adventure. The cast cannot miss a bubbly Jennifer Coolidge, who plays the mother of the groom.
The plot takes a twist when the wedding guests are taken hostage by a group of criminals. The newlyweds manage to escape and enter the jungle, hoping to seek help and sabotage the pirates. But this escape also puts their nerves to the test. Between running on the beach and throwing grenades, Darcy and Tom will learn to rely on each other like never before.
A small pearl of this film concerns the wedding dresses: it seems that Jennifer Lopez wore 28, or rather 28 versions of the first dress worn by Darcy just before getting married. To say it, it’s costume designer Mitchell Travers, who made the dresses with Galia Lahav. From the original model, 28 versions were made for the same dress in just one month of work, using fabrics and techniques that allowed the same dress to be changed multiple times, perfect for a glam action heroine.
