According to Just Jared, Warner Bros. reportedly hit the hammer and decided to recast Mera’s role in the ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ sequel.
The decision was reportedly made after backlash at the presence of actress Amber Heard, who recently lost the case against her ex-husband Johnny Depp, at screenings of the film.
As a result, the film will undergo new reshoots to include the new actress, who has not yet been announced, who will take on the role of the heroine. The site also says the reshoots will involve scenes with Jason Momoa and Nicole Kidman.
It should be recalled that after the case was closed in court, Johnny Depp fans campaigned to boycott “Aquaman 2”, which gained popularity and became one of the most discussed topics on the social networks.
Previously, reporter KC Walsh, who works for The GWW, revealed that Heard was fired from the sequel.

The information was also corroborated by Juliette Lauren Fischer, executive producer at Warner Bros. Discovery, which posted a similar message on its official Twitter, writing, “See…maybe it’s true.”

As there has been no official statement from Warner Bros., consider Heard’s alleged firing a rumor.
Previously, during CinemaCon, it was confirmed that the actress would continue to star in the franchise.
