In an interview with Collider, actress D’Arcy Carden commented on the long-awaited reboot of the classic “A Very Special Team,” a series that will soon debut in the Amazon Prime Video catalog.
Carden said the production was still filming, characterizing it as a reimagining of the original 1992 film.
“I really believe that ‘reimagining’ is a good way to explain [a série]. They don’t do it again. They are not the same characters, but it is the same world. These are women who played baseball in the 1940s, while the men were at war… We dive a little deeper into the stories and develop them. Love it, ”she said.
The rest of the cast is made up of Abbi Jacobson, Chanté Adams, Roberta Colindrez, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Kelly McCormack, Priscilla Delgado and Nick Offerman. Jacobson also joins as a screenwriter and executive producer.
Carden is known for playing Janet in the acclaimed comedy “The Good Place”, which is in its 4th and final season. Jacobson, meanwhile, is a comedian who plays and supervises the show “Broad City”. She also voices Tiabeanie in the Netflix animation ‘(Des) Encanto’.
The series will be based on the 1992 feature film starring Geena Davis, Lori Petty, Rosie O’Donnell, Madonna and Tom Hanks. Directed by Penny Marshall, the work revolved around two sisters who played in the American Women’s League Rockford Peaches during World War II.
The film was well received by critics, garnering 78% approvals in Rotten Tomatoes, as well as grossing over $ 132 million at the global box office.
Amazon production will begin with the formation of the league in question in 1943 and will show the team’s struggles in staying excited and alive for games.
