10 horror films that will be 10 years old in 2021

A few days ago, we made two anniversary movie lists in 2021, but we intentionally left out those that belonged to the horror genre (and its dozens of variations). After all, this huge pantheon, responsible for an absurd number of titles each year, deserves a unique story.

From the pseudo-conclusion of the “ Panic ” franchise (which has already confirmed one more chapter) to the attempt to revive the found footage of “ Paranormal Activity 3 ” and “ Paranormal Phenomena ”, we have separated ten films that completed a decade this year.

Check out our picks below and tell us which one is your favorite:

“Paranormal Phenomena” came at a terrible time for horror films, especially for the Found Images subgenre. Trying to save the glories of “ The Blair Witch, ” the film ended up being overshadowed by more successful franchises, despite delivering good scenes and a fun adventure set in a madhouse overflowing with evil spirits and dark secrets.

Enjoy watching:

“The Riddle of Another World” is one of the best-known films of the legendary John Carpenter and certainly does not need to be replayed. Either way, director Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. has decided to provide his own side of the story with “The Thing,” a sequel to the classic 1982 story (not even your budget).

Before becoming known around the world as Wanda Maximoff in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Elizabeth Olsen appeared in an independent film called “The Silent House”. Psychological terror revolves around a young woman who, renovating her family’s country house, is terrified of the forces lurking in the dark.

‘Panic 4’ deserved more attention than it did, not least for bringing a franchise for a third film back away from usable. The last film directed by Wes Craven before his tragic death brought Sydney Prescott (Neve Campbell) back to Woodsboro to face demons from his past and a new serial killer who would end his journey.

A surprising comeback for the beloved franchise, ‘Premonição 5’ surprised fans around the world for its (literally) explosive ending and for being the first chapter of the saga shot in 3D. Turning out to be a prequel to the original events, the film features Nicholas D’Agosto as a young man who saves his colleagues from a collapsed bridge.

“Paranormal Activity 3” was one of the most successful entries in the supernatural horror franchise – the second most well-received after the original chapter. Receiving a solid reception from critics and making a huge box office hit (earning forty times its budget), the story centers on a family terrified of inexplicable and evil events.

Nobody had asked for a remake of “A Hora do Espanto”, but the result of the 2011 version was much more positive than expected. Praised for the sour humor and chemistry of the cast, the film centers on Charley, who continues his investigation of his strange new neighbor after his best friend goes missing, believing he might be a vampire.

Undeniably one of the best horror films of 2011, “You’re Next” has gained a legion of fans since its release, especially for the constant tribute to the slasher films of the 1980s. In the film, a family benefits of a few days of rest in a deserted place where masked men invade the house with the intention of killing them. But what the killers ignore is that one of the victims is in fact a threat.

The famous and award-winning “The Secret of the Cabin” has become one of the linchpins of cinematic metalanguage and has paid homage to so many classics in the genre that it’s almost impossible to count them. Marking Drew Goddard’s directorial debut, the story features five friends vacationing in a mountain cabin. Gradually, they realize that they are surrounded by the supernatural and that nothing is what it seems.

Haunted by the death of her fiancé shortly after World War I, a woman decides to devote her life to investigating suspected paranormal cases, using logic to explain them. She accepts the invitation to visit a school where a boy has been found dead and, according to rumors, her ghost haunts the premises. Soon she begins to look for scientific evidence to explain the situation, only that her findings gradually cast doubt on everything she knows.
